“One of the most interesting concepts in construction of kinetic buildings is challenging static norms by creating changeable configurations which meet user requirements or react to sunlight. The Kinetower project (architects Barbara van Biervliet and Xaveer Claerhout). The external windows react to the intensity of sunlight or to user’s control signals just as flowers to react sunrise: they unfold giving the building facade soft features and a completely different appearance. This transformation is possible because of the building material, which is rigid in its normal state but can bend at high temperatures.”
