UN TIEMPO PROPIO.

“TIEMPO INTERIOR – INSIDE TIME
Abstracting from external contingencies, memories, images and desires mix in our minds and cause a moment of reverie, where the tyranny of time ceases to have power. Psychic escape offers us the possibility of experiencing the sublime, with all the ambiguities that this supports. Sensitive reality evaporates little by little, until it dissolves in a contemplative state, almost hallucinatory. The works gathered here propose, through the world of stories, the representation of the cosmos or radical dispossession, an exploration of the mysteries of existence, its vacillations and its impermanence. They offer an immersive experience that disrupts our relationship with space, inviting us to an active participation that exalts the senses. It is this sensitive experience, with its ambivalence and its elusive part, that takes us towards uncharted terrain, towards a fantasized place. While liberating, this suspended inner moment also reminds us that the horizon will forever remain unreachable.”
“Barbara van Biervliet, an engineer with a degree from the University of Leuven, joined forces with Xaveer Claerhout, an architect and graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre in Brussels with a degree in art history from the University of Leuven, to set up an architectural practice and then the interdisciplinary studio Kinetura in 2008. From the outset, the duo focused on the object and space, considered through the prism of multifunctionality. Attentive to the processes of organic transformation, they soon began producing prototypes of objects and filed international patents, working with light to construct space. Made using motion detection technologies and materials notable for their flexibility, their metamorphic, morphologically shifting lights develop in space and time. The Luminaire New York responds not only to touch, but also to movement and presence, thanks to an invisible integrated camera and an interactive programming mode. Its closed, almost absent frame opens slowly to let out the light rays hidden at its centre. The rhythm of the object, similar to breathing, gives the measure of time which is no longer fragmented, but similar to the inner time of respiration. Cuts is a metamorphic installation, like a kinetic model, exploring the possibility of a breathing architecture that could align itself with the rhythm of human needs. Following the same principle, the aluminium surface is split by two lines that allow light to appear at certain moments. These two objects, in perpetual motion and in symbiosis with their environment, unfold silently to better underline their fluid and gentle function as light emitters. Clever technological solutions lead the user to question the power attributed to objects and their spiritual pneuma, halfway between prescience and belief.”
