The Kinehood is a cinematic manifesto of a metamorphic cooker hood.
This metamorphic hood fits within our larger concept of the Kinekitchen . A kitchen that transforms from a passive state, over slumbering to becoming alive. In its active state, the kitchen and thus the cooker hood deforms. Silently and slowly, the end parts of the deformable cooker hood bend upwards, thus creating an opening for air and light to circulate. The more opening is created the more working light falls on the worktop. The larger the aperture becomes, the faster the extractor fan can turn, thus developing suction without causing noise problems. In its passive closed form, the surface is flat and integrates completely into the ceiling in an almost invisible way. The contour line is merely perceptible and functions as a communicative 2-dimensional light line. The light line can take on the colour of the back splash as a means of orientation lighting if required.
